Privacy policy

PrayArabic (“the app”) and this website are provided by Al Baqshi (“we”). This policy explains what the app and the website do with information about you. In short: the app works fully without an account, and you can use every part of it without telling us anything.

At a glance

• You don’t need an account to use the app.
• No advertising, no analytics, no tracking.
• Your location and your voice stay on your phone.
• If you create an account, we keep only what is needed to back up your history, and you can delete it any time.

What stays on your phone

• Your prayer history and settings are kept on your phone.
• Your approximate location is used on your phone to work out prayer times and the qibla direction. It is never sent to us.
• Your voice. If you turn on listening, the phone’s own on-device speech recognition hears your recitation so the app can follow where you are. Only on-device recognition is used. Your voice is not recorded, kept or sent anywhere. If your phone cannot recognise Arabic without the internet, listening stays off.
• Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself.

If you choose to create an account

An account is optional. It lets you back up your history. Sign-in is provided by Baqshi accounts (auth.baqshi.com), which holds your username, your email address if you give one, and your password. PrayArabic stores:

• an account identifier and display name;
• your preferences and the choices you made about backup;
• if you turn on Back up my history (off by default): when you prayed, which prayer, and how it went. Timings only, never audio.

We use this only to give you back your history on another phone. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or track you across other apps or websites.

Tips

Tips are optional. Payment is handled by Apple on the App Store or by Google on Google Play. We do not see your payment details.

Who processes data for us

We do not share your data with anyone for advertising. We use service providers only to run the service:

• Baqshi accounts (auth.baqshi.com) for sign-in;
• Railway to host the server and database;
• Vercel to host this website.

Data may be processed in a country other than yours. Everything sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and serves its own fonts. Our host (Vercel) keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect them from abuse.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data for as long as the account exists.

• To delete the account and everything tied to it, in the app: Settings → Account and backup → Delete my account.
• To erase your backup but keep the account: Settings → Privacy → Delete my data.
• Without the app: email [email protected]. See how to delete your account.

Your history on the phone is removed by deleting the app.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Write to us and we will reply.

Children

PrayArabic collects nothing from anyone who does not create an account, and an account asks for no personal details beyond a username. If you are a parent and want an account your child created removed, write to us.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date.
